Our Jury

André Guttfreund

Filmmaker

Salvadoran filmmaker. Producer of the 1976 short film "In the Region of Ice", for which he received an Oscar at the Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short Film, becoming the first, and so far only, Central American to receive an Oscar. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from The American Film Institute. He has been director of Televisión Educativa (1971-1973), Director of the National Theater and, since 2012, President of the Salvadoran Film and Television Association (ASCINE).

Edgar Barillas

Historian and audiovisual producer

Guatemalan, PhD in Heritage Conservation, researcher of the history of Guatemalan cinema and producer of educational and cultural documentaries. He has participated in film-related events in Cuba, France, Brazil, Colombia and all Central American countries. He is a founding member of the Asociación Guatemalteca del Audiovisual y la Cinematografía and the Asociación por la Memoria Audiovisual de Guatemala.

Marielba Herrera

Anthropologist

Anthropologist and cultural consultant, she was in charge of the Office of the Historian and Cultural Heritage of San Salvador; she has developed research since 2010 on topics related to popular religiosity, indigenous and Afro-descendant identities in El Salvador. She is currently founder and president of the Network of Afro-Central American Studies, an organization that aims to assist academia and the Afro-Central American population in the dissemination of the African legacy in the diaspora and the recognition of the research production of Afro-Central American organic intellectuals.

Rubén Herrera

Colorist and audiovisual producer

Salvadoran colorist who has worked in Hollywood, independent films, documentaries, television series and music videos. After graduating from José Matías Delgado University, he studied the art of color with some of the best colorists in the industry. A couple of years later he decided to take an independent path and created Causa Color. He currently lives in Montevideo and works remotely for the entire planet.

Saúl Uribe

Anthropologist and audiovisual producer

He has been advisor, consultant and executor of policies and programs of conservation and dissemination of cultural and natural heritage in communities and specific human groups, serving as manager of cultural development programs and policies. He is currently a researcher attached to the scientific research groups: NEXUS Society Nature, Federal University of Pernambuco Brazil, Cultural Heritage Management attached to the University of Antioquia Medellin-Colombia, the Territory Group of the Pontificia Bolivariana University, Medellin-Colombia.

Amargit Pinzón

Filmmaker

Panamanian editor, director and screenwriter, with training in Film Editing at EICTV in Cuba. Founder and partner of Laberintos Films Producciones and the PaverteMedia platform. Specialized in film production, digital media and cultural entrepreneurship in Japan, Venezuela, Mexico and Panama. Extensive experience in roles in short films, documentaries and audiovisual content for networks and platforms. Outstanding in co-production and consulting in Bolivia. Lecturer in scriptwriting, production and editing at universities in Panama and Brazil. Participating projects in several international festivals and exhibitions.
